Ares Side Table, Brown Emperador Marble

Brown Emperador marble stopped us the moment we saw it, and it's the reason the bronze Ares side table is the most visually striking of the finishes.

The marble is a deep, chocolatey brown threaded with fine veins of cream and warm gold that catch the light and give the surface an almost woven quality. It's characterful in a way that's genuinely rare in a material at this scale, rich without being heavy, detailed without being busy. It's also one of the more forgiving marbles day-to-day; the depth of colour means marks and everyday wear don't show the way they would on a paler stone, so it stays looking the way it does now for years, not just for the first few months.

The bronze base has a warm, burnished finish that sits perfectly next to it. Both materials share the same depth and earthiness, and neither one pulls focus from the other. We used this exact pairing in the River project, where the interior is built on warm taupes and creams with brass and bronze accents throughout, and the brown marble added real depth to the living room, giving the space something with weight and texture to anchor around rather than another flat, pale surface.

If you want to layer it, the proportions are identical across every version of the Ares, so placing this alongside the antique brass or aged silver reads as considered rather than coincidental.

As a natural material, marble is porous and can be susceptible to staining. We recommend wiping spills promptly to keep it looking its best. As with all natural stone, each top is unique; colouration and veining may vary slightly from the images shown.
