Ares Side Table Aged Gold With Black Markino Marble

The Ares side table isn't a subtle piece in Black Markino marble, and that's exactly why we chose it.

The marble top is a deep, near-black with a shimmer that catches the light in a way that's genuinely hard to describe until you see it in person. The white veining running through it is quieter than you'd expect from a black marble, more a trace across the surface than a hard contrast. Because it's a natural stone, no two slabs read the same, which is part of what you're actually paying for over a printed or resin alternative that will fade and scratch within a couple of years of daily use. This won't.

The base is aged gold. It doesn't soften the marble; it sharpens it. There's a richness to this pairing the other finishes don't quite have, and it works across more rooms than you'd expect from something this bold. We used this exact finish in a recent project where the room already had a dark wall colour and black window frames; the table didn't compete with either- it tied the two together. In a much quieter, paler client living room, we used it as the single considered piece in the space, and it became the thing the whole room was built around instead.

If you're building the collection over time, the proportions are identical across every Ares finish, so this sits alongside the bronze or the aged silver as an intentional pairing rather than a mismatched one.

As a natural material, marble is porous and can be susceptible to staining. We recommend wiping spills promptly to keep it looking its best. As with all natural stone, each top is unique; colouration and veining may vary slightly from the images shown.
